Project
Open Waste Compliance
Pan-European waste licences framework
The purpose
The ultimate objective of the action is to create a European online searchable database.
Here`s the main outcomes of the platform:
Improved access to waste compliance public registers on a national level
Improve access to waste related public registers within and between Member States
Improved user-friendliness of waste compliance data
The Problem
Improper waste management can lead to a multitude of negative effects on human health and the environment.
These effects can include soil, air and water contamination, and loss of biodiversity.
Companies generating waste therefore need to ensure that they are dealing with the appropriate waste contractor. Open Waste Compliance will help tackle this issue as its platform simplifies the process of finding a legitimate waste contractor.
The platform will also help to reduce waste crime (when waste operators without valid licences illegally dump (‘fly-tip’) waste)
As companies use the Open Waste Compliance platform to source an appropriate waste contractor, use of such waste operators will diminish and the level of waste crime will fall.
The Solution
Aggregating the public registers on waste management companies into one online platform
Enabling quick due diligence assessments of registered waste carriers and contractors, waste management companies and authorised sites.
